Tips on Buying a Used Car

Buying a used car doesn't have to be overwhelming. There are a few things you should look for to make sure you buy a quality used vehicle versus one with hidden mechanical issues resulting in high repair costs down the road.

Vehicle Inspections & Reconditioning

Here at RedCar Network, we are picky about the type of vehicles we sell to you. Our main goal is to ensure you are not only happy with your selection, but that it keeps you moving, as long as you need it to.

Our vehicles primarily come from auctions. Fernando Acosta, RedCar Network’s owner, has been in the industry for 20 years and has very rigid standards on the type of cars, trucks and SUVs he will buy, and ultimately sell to you.

This typically includes late model vehicles that have a good reputation for minimal repairs as they age. We sell a lot of trucks, such as Toyota Tundra, Dodge Ram, Chevrolet Silverado, Ford F150, Nissan Titan and other similar models. We also maintain a great selection of SUVs, many with third row, like the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, Ford Explorer and Expedition, Nissan Pathfinder, Honda Pilot and Cadillac Escalade. We also never forget to mix in our sedans like the Toyota Camry and Corolla, Chevrolet Cruz, Nissan Sentra and Altima, Ford Fusion and Mustang, Dodge Charger and Challenger, and a few BMWs and Infinitis for fun!

Vehicle Repairs

Regardless of vehicle age, we ALWAYS perform our multi-point inspection which always includes an oil and filter change. We always inspect the tires and brakes to ensure they meet or exceed our standards. If not, we replace them. We check, and double check, the major operating parts of your vehicle to make sure they operate per factory instructions. This includes the vehicle's transmission, drivetrain, engine, steering, heating/cooling and more.  If by chance something were to fail shortly after your purchase, our national limited warranty is there to protect you.  Our warranty covers important parts such as the engine, transmission, drive axle and basic electric for three months or 3,000 miles.

Vehicle History Report (CarFax)

As a buyer, you should view the vehicle history report. There are several major companies providing vehicle history reports including CarFax and Experian AutoCheck, two of the big companies offering such reports. We provide free CarFax reports on all our vehicles.

At RedCar Network, we DO NOT purchase used vehicles that have been "totaled", “salvage”, or other catastrophic incidents like flood damage or previously deployed airbags. You should always get the VIN number of the vehicle you intend to purchase so you can double check the Vehicle History Report. These reports will also let you know if the odometer has been rolled back. No reason to be surprised down the road.

Vehicle National Limited Warranty

The biggest benefit to purchasing a used vehicle from a dealership like RedCar Network, is the national limited warranty. Not everyone offers a limited warranty. Make sure you compare and contrast how long the limited warranty will cover your vehicle, as well as, what is covered under that limited warranty. Our limited warranty covers the engine, transmission, drive axle and basic electrical for three months or 3,000 miles.  Ask for details during your test drive.

Vehicle Maintenance

Buying a used car is the easy part…keeping it operating optimally requires regular maintenance, such as oil and other fluid changes, rotating tires to ensure even wear and tear, alignments, etc. Therefore, when shopping for the perfect make and model to fit your lifestyle, do consider the required maintenance costs associated with the vehicle you want to buy, such as oil changes, tires, wiper blades, hoses, etc.

Bottom line, we are here to help you get auto financing and a quality used car, regardless of your credit. Make it easy on yourself, stop by today!
